Hello.
I’m a senior lady who knows nothing about vehicles except to keep them maintained & safe.
I’ve had to bring my Promaster in to Firestone for a diagnostic.
They said they can’t get in to fix it because the “system is locked”.
So I have an appointment for tomorrow morning to bring into my local dealership.

anyone know the ballpark $$$ they will Charge me to fix this?

I’m on a fixed income & am hoping it won’t be over $1000.

Tech mechanic just called & asked if I had replaced the sensors after I bought this van & I told him no.
I just bought it on 9/9/25 & I believe the dealer who I bought it from made that repair.
Supposedly this mechanic said the sensors were replaced with “non OEM” parts.
He also mentioned that with newer vehicles, the rely heavily on being able to communicate electronically so the replaced sensors should have been from MOPAR?

How many sensors does my van have & how much should I expect to pay for them if they are going to be replaced?

I'm guessing their issue is the OBD II security gateway module?

I'd try another shop and ask if they can get through the OBD II security gateway on a 2019 Promaster

if it is the security gateway, what's baffling is the shop should know they can't work on 2018 and newer Promasters

shops can either pay Ram or bypass the security module

Taking it to a mechanic who said they have a subscription w/Ram so they can access their information (gateway module I’m assuming?), and he said he needs to perform a diagnostic to see EXACTLY what is causing the issue.
Another $170 to him for this test.
So far I paid $60 to Firestone who did nothing.

Now ANOTHER expense for ANOTHER diagnostic.

I’m wondering what the actual charges will be to fix what it needs?
